Local environmentalists are welcoming an newly-announced initiative to implement kerbside collection of organic waste in Bathurst. On Thursday, Environment Minister Rob Stokes said a government grant of $38,000 will fund a new community recycling centre for problem waste. The centre is expected to lead the way for the kerbside collection of food and garden waste. If plans for kerbside collection eventuate, it will see Bathurst residents wheeling a new green-lid bin onto the streets.
