Lombard was described by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the first woman to die for her country in World War II. She was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In June 1942, the Liberty ship was christened S.S. Carole Lombard, with a sobbing Gable attending the ceremony. news-sentinel/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2F20080926%2FLIVING%2F809260298 I have a couple of questions regarding the award given to Carole Lombard. To whom was it given to if it was a posthumous award? Where is it now? What does it look like? Is there a photograph, drawing or rendering of the Medal of Freedom medal? Were there certain crucial information regarding the crash of TWA Flight 3 that was kept from the public? Can official footage of the campaign she did to sell war bonds be made public and published on youtube? I was wondering if there is more information about this, the award I mean, such as photographs and the like, particularly, a photograph, or rendering, of the actual medal awarded, to the late, great Carole Lombard. I believe this is also a part of American history. And, with regards to the Medal of Freedom recipients, she is not on the list. I am doing a little bit of research on Carole Lombard, about her life and tragic passing, due in most part to a recurring dream I am having of her. The latest being a couple of weeks ago. I distinctly heard the pilot or copilot of her doomed TWA flight say over the radio Mayday!! Mayday!!
