Long ago and in one of the decades of my life ago... I decided that the word NO did not exist for me... however.. long ago and one of my husbands ago.. I found.. a husband .. who was a nerd and pretty wimpy.. hard to believe considering.. well ok..lets define.. hes a meteorology professor.. of course hes a nerd.. hes also Jewish and from Boston.. on a trip back to New York.. in the airport.. I found out.. how wimpy.. my oldest daughters and I along with.. Mr. Meteor himself.. got in a huge line for hot dogs.. nothing like New York hot dogs.. well... Mr. Meteor.. somehow ended up a few people behind us.. it took 30 minutes to get through the line.. and we had 30 minutes to be to our gate.. ugh... I was hustling the girls.. and eating.. and waited and waited.. it seems like tic tocs of total time took place.. in those few minutes.. here came Mr. Meteor.. with chips.. and a brownie.. no hot dog!! I asked him why no hot dog.. he shrugged he shoulders and said quietly She wouldnt give me one. I raised my voice.. in disbelief.. I had never experienced New York life before..and the brazen people of rudeness one can find there.. I told him quite loudly and firmly you get right back in that line.. he shrugged his shoulders got back in line.. and well.. the scene was repeated.. I again asked him where his hot dog was... he replied She wouldnt give me one! She looked right by me!! I could not believe my ears... however.. we had to get going to our gate. I learned about the word NO from that airport lady.. she didnt even say it.. she just plain ignored my hubby. I did apologize to hubby for being so firm and upset. I was in disbelief that a person would simply decide arbitrarily to not serve a hot dog to a guy in line at a NewYork Airport.. true story... poor Mr. Meteor.. Mind you Mr. Meteor was a brilliant scholar and very assertive in the classroom.. egad..
