Long but good day! Started off with labs and doc appt this - TopicsExpress

Long but good day! Started off with labs and doc appt this morning. She has had this annoying cough for a couple weeks now. Doc heard some wheezing today so we ended up staying for two breathing treatments. Also a quick dressing change for her CVC line from the nurse in the clinic while we waited. Once we were finally done in the clinic we headed upstairs to school where we had already missed the fire safety meeting and tour of the fire truck from Houston FD. We were there just in time for hotdogs and ice cream however! And, on a better note JQ got her own personal tour of the ladder truck when we walked the firemen out since she missed out earlier! Even got to press the button on the floor to sound the siren! After that was school-except we were distracted by the Home Depot employees who were there to do a craft with the kids... So, finally by 2pm, we had a pencil box made and painted and were headed to school for the final 30 mins. When I got back to pick her up she was working on some fun math and not ready to leave. Hopefully a full day of school tomorrow ;) As far as doc reports we did find out a little news today. They had sent off some of her new marrow from the aspiration last week to do a donor chimerism (see how many cells are hers vs donor cells. Obviously hoping for all donor cells eventually.) Of the one component 99% were donor cells! Pretty amazing at this stage. However, the other component (which I learned was lymphocytes, T cells) was only 67% donor. Dr. Tewari seemed a little concerned at why this component was so mixed, especially after the intense chemo and preparatory regimen JQ went through in order to rid her body of all of her own bone marrow prior to transplant. So, Friday they will do an extra blood draw to send off and see what that donor chimerism shows. We will go from there. Her magnesium level is still low, despite the fluids at home with extra mag. So we will go by and draw labs first thing in the morning to check that level again. Her GVHD preventive med can cause low mag which can cause seizures and other problems we dont want. She also still needs to work on drinking more so we can hopefully be able to come home without fluids running! We also were lucky enough to have a visit from a fellow Perkinite today and offer him dinner! Thats one of the things I miss most (and will still miss once were home! Spontaneous dinner company!) And thanks to him we have a fresh gallon of milk in our fridge! Thanks a million!!!
