Long day for this little nug. We had to have him sedated most of the day due to the amount of pain he has been in. We ended up having to get an X-ray of his throat done today because we felt it was very inflamed. We had ENT come up and examine him and they felt it to be a good idea. They mentioned that of it was inflamed or so sore that we wouldnt be able to suction, of possibly having to intubate him so we didnt do more damage to his throat. Hes been coughing and having to be suctioned non stop for the past almost three weeks and its really taken a toll on it. We had the doctors come in last night and check it out and all agreed it was extremely red and raw back there. Ugh! When we took his bipap off this morning his voice was non existent but was in a state of non stop crying to the point where he was turning purple because of being in so much pain. It was horrible! The pain in our hearts of not being able to comfort our child is the worst. Theres absolutely nothing we can do to fix it other than what we have been doing as a team. Thankfully the X-ray came back fine and theres no obstruction. So now its just a waiting game. ENT will be back in the morning to go over the next plan of action, if any that they want to try. Mase didnt get to come off of bipap today at all other than for his care, as in mouth cleaning, suctioning, chest PT, etc. because he was off for too long again yesterday. Were hoping for a better day tomorrow. We have been here 17 days and counting and we still dont have an end in sight yet. Hes got a long road to recovery ahead of him. Weve discussed since his lungs arent clearing up as quickly as we want them to that we might have to do another round of antibiotics to see if it helps. If its not one thing, its another. Our poor little guy has been through hell and is still continuing to give it his all. Hes the definition of a true fighter, our hero❤️
