Long post re. THE MARTIAN, by Andy Weir... Jayne Ann Krentz loved this book and twisted my arm to read it. By the time I reached Chapter 6, I was ready to twist hers. Right off! Fascinating premise, but tons of detailed technical stuff, math, physics, yuck yuck yuck. But just as I was getting ready to pick up the phone and tell her we were no longer friends (!), I reached Chapter 6 and got into it. Talk about reading outside my comfort zone. Its MacGiver on Mars! Anyway, I still skimmed a LOT, but I have to say, its a prefect read for anyone whos a science/space nerd, and I ended up kind of loving it.
