Long-time readers of the site might have noticed the absence of some over-long emo declaration of love that usually crops up here in the new year, after Ive had the chance to reflect on the previous 12 months. So this is just to say that I dont value your readership/interest/enthusiasm for what GFP is and does any less, just that Ive learned to reign it in a little (LOL, NOT!) and also the whole thing just feels a little more balanced these days. Like, previously I was desperately striving for every single new view/interaction because running this website seemed to lock-in (far too?) greatly with my own happiness/well-being/direction in life. Anyway, I spent the last week or so traveling the country and catching-up with friends and family and how is the website doing? is always third in-line after asking how my life and love is. These days I just get to wear a big smile and tell everyone that its still great, still fulfilling, still more inspiring than anything else Ive ever done - and even though I hadnt checked the inbox for more than three days (three!!!), I really meant it and it felt just, well, lovely. We turn five years old in May and this funny little website will always mean a lot to me and some people maybe cant understand why it seems to matter so much, or even how much time and effort it imparts on my everyday life, and I certainly dont always know why I do all of this but I do know that sometimes someone says that writing about music really does matter, like really matters, in some small, incalculable, weird way and now when they say that I think I believe them. More than ever before, anyway. I dont know what the future holds for GoldFlakePaint but as far as 2015 is concerned, not much will change - after that, Im not too sure right now. Approximately 60,000 more people visited the site in 2014 than 2013 (which blows my mind, really) and as long as statistics like that continue to mirror my enjoyment of all of this then I cant see it coming to an end completely. I think I might have got a real writing job, at least for the next few weeks anyway, which is pretty wonderful and thanks mostly to this site, so, again, thank you for your continued interest in GFP. You may see things slow-up a little in that time/if that continues on - but then Im also a sucker for hard work when it comes to this funny little thing, so you probably wont. Wow, this got out of hand. Happy new year, hope you all have a great 2015. Hug someone you love and dance a lot, even if its just to yourself in front of the mirror. Best, Tom Editor, GoldFlakePaint
