Longridge based cheese maker Grandma Singletons is launching a new cheese called Lancashire Pals, to commemorate the centenary of World War One and raise money for national charity SSAFA - Lifelong Support of our Forces and their Families. The handmade Tasty Lancashire Cheese called Lancashire Pals will go on sale in Booths stores around the region from 5th November and 5p from every 200g piece of cheese that is sold will be donated to SSAFA to support them in their vital work, supporting today’s serving and former Armed Forces which is as important today as it was during World War One. The Lancashire Pals cheese goes on sale just in time for Remembrance Day. Its mesmerising label features a haunting image of Francis Brindle, a young soldier who enlisted on 15th September 1914, joining the Chorley Pals Company of the East Lancashire Regiment.
