Look Up By: Danny Wallace Our eyes are not multi-faceted. Though we perceive glimpses from our peripheral vision, we can only see clearly in one direction at a time. In fact, we often discover that those glimpses to the side of our vision are very misguided once we cast our full attention through eyes of love to what was once our peripheral perception. Where we look is important. For where we look determines what we see. We can point to the dirt or, we can unearth the treasure. What does this mean? In reality it means that I either see the dirt as “dirty,” and walk away, or I see the dirt as simply a covering to hide the treasure that I am here to unearth. Metaphorically, it means that any fool can point at the flaws, or sin in someone’s life. Lucifer does it every moment, of every day, and in my personal opinion, Lucifer is the biggest fool of them all. Who else allows pride to fill his heart with such arrogance as to trade Heaven for Hell – life for death? In looking at the dirt we will never see further than “what could have been.” By joyously digging for the treasure we uncover the glorious truth of God that has always been. Where we look is so very important. We can never look up to God and down on man at the same time. If we look down on man we maintain only a peripheral glimpse of God. However, when we look up we lose all peripheral vision. The scope of the Heavens and the replacing of” dirt for sky” opens our hearts and vision to forever focus on the loving face of God. Look up.
