Look: When I was student body president a lot of people criticized me for expressing my political views - which you know didnt keep me quiet - but now I dont even have to worry about reactions to my telling you exactly how I feel. These are the races that I most care about. Governor: A.J. Balukoff for Idaho We need to send Grandpa Otter and his buddies packing. Hes had eight years. Ive worked with him - hes not a bad guy, but he doesnt know how to face the challenges were facing and move forward supporting all Idahoans - A.J. does. Two weeks ago I would have been voting for AJ to vote against Otter, but, getting familiar with A.J.s ideas and plan Im voting FOR AJ, not just against Otter. Superintendent of Public Instruction: Jana Jones for Idahos Superintendent of Public Instruction If you think that Tom Luna was a mess, meet Sherri Ybarra. Shes the candidate who cant remember who shes been married to, hasnt voted in a single election since coming to Idaho, and misled folks about being an educator of the year - which Jana has actually been awarded. Ybarra also lied about her education credentials - leading folks to believe she would receive a doctorate - instead receiving a special certificate. Ybarra also falsified endorsements and plagiarized Jana Jones own website for her own. If you think were going to have a different experience with Ybarra, youre wrong. Vote Jana Jones - she actually is a doctor, and has experience working as a deputy under Marilyn Howard - a former Superintendent! Secretary of State: Holli Woodings for Idaho Holli is a person of integrity, upstanding character and impeccable work ethic. Holli has served in the state legislature as an honest, and trustworthy representative. Her opponent, Lawerence Denney, was the disgraced former Speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives. His past is full of scandals and for in-depth information about them, see this page: Know Denney. Meanwhile, Holli wants to bring our voting system into the 21st century, make the SoSs office more accessible to small businesses and continue the legacy of Pete Cenarussa and Ben Ysursa - that reputation of integrity in that office. (Also, we know that Ben and his wife both support Holli). State Treasurer: Deborah Silver On one hand we have Deborah Silver, who is an accountant, and on the other hand we have a person who isnt. And that wouldnt be soooo bad, but, hes been mismanaging Idahos money and covering it up. Vote for the person whos gonna do the best job. Congressional District 1: Shirley Ringo for Congress - Idaho District 1 I dont even feel like I need to repeat my criticism of Raul Labrador. That being said, voting for Shirley is voting for thoughtful, meaningful leadership. Shell work to restore sanity to Washington - and an added benefit: we wont have a Tea-Party Darling using one of Idahos two votes to further his own agenda. District 16: John Mc Crostie for District 16 District 19: Cherie Buckner-Webb for District 19 Melissa Wintrow for Idaho District 15: Steve Berch for Idaho For CWI Trustee: Emily Walton for College of Western Idaho Board of Trustees Emily, you know, is one of my very best friends. Ive seen, firsthand, her ability to move folks forward. Emilys work to mobilize students to care about and participate in the political process - as it relates to higher education funding - was amazing. Anyone who had been a part of that movement when we were in Student Government knows the miracles she can work.
