Look at divine poetry in all its splendor. Today, millions upon millions visit the graves and sepulchers of the Ahl al-Bayt for blessings. People flock like bees to the grave of Amīr al-Muminīn Alī b. Abī Tālib in Najaf, Iraq. Over 15 million Muslims annually visit Karbalā, Iraq during Muharram to pay their respect to Imām al-Husayn and countless millions visit Cairo, Egypt where his blessed head is located. Thats more than the number of Muslims that go for Hajj each year. Now on the opposite side, how many visit the graves of those who institutionalized their cursing on the pulpits and those who murdered them and their supporters one after the other? How many today visit the graves of Muāwiya b. Abī Sufyān and Yazīd b. Muāwiya in Damascus, Syria? Does anybody even know where the likes of Marwān b. al-Hakam and Hajjāj b. Yūsuf are even buried for a start? Where is the glory of the Abbasids now? On the ground, away from the realm of modern textbooks and preachers, the hearts of the people speak a different language altogether. The Ahl al-Bayt attract hearts in life and death.
