Looking for a small but powerful combo bass amp, have a Roland - TopicsExpress

Looking for a small but powerful combo bass amp, have a Roland Bass Cube which uses feed forward processing and is loud enough to do small venues and BGM gigs with, but I wanted something that can handle a larger venue and not get lost yet be as portable. I tried out a PJ Double Four 75 watt model which was highly portable, as portable as the cube, but it was not that much better really. It peaked out and sort of wheezed when I pushed the volume past two thirds. The cube also does that too, they are both too easy to overload past the half way mark on the volume and gain dials so the PJ compact combos are crossed of my list. When I tried out the PJ the shop staff were hovering around adjusting the settings anxious about over driving the amp which put me off it even more...lol! I also tried a Cub, which although slightly better, was not THAT much different. In short I want something that is only 4 or 5 KGs and can kick ass and doesnt wimp out when pushed. Considering compact head and speaker option too. Any advice out there? Mark bass, TC Electronic, Eden etc. ? Cheers!
