Looking for advice please. Ive recently started riding an ex racer. Im used to them as its all Ive ever known but shes alot harder than Ive had to ride before! Shes 5 and hasnt been in work for 10 months. Apart from a little schooling here and there Im almost sure she was taken right off the track and sold, it doesnt seem like she has been de - raced! At the moment she can be dangerous, she isnt brilliant in traffic, doesnt stand still to let them by etc. Her napping is to the point that she canters backwards no matter what is behind her, cars, ditches, cattlegrid! I had to get off her today. She also has huge separation anxiety from the boys she shares a field with. I can feel her heart booming and she shakes underneath me, calls to them and bolts for home. Just looking for as much advice as I can get about de-racing a horse and dealing with the separation problems. It isnt possible for her to ride with someone else all the time so it needs to be sorted. Am going to stop hacking and school for a while, or do people think I need to be consistent and carry on hacking? Thanks in advance xx
