The camp allows kids to learn more about resources like fire ecology, wildlife, forestry, fisheries, archeology, wetlands and botany and possible careers in those fields. It also engages students in many outdoor activities like hiking, birding, swimming and canoeing. When: June 15 to 21 Where: Camp Esther Applegate located at Lake of the Woods Cost: Registration fee is $225. Financial aid is available. Klamath Outdoor Science School Who: Ages for programs vary, starting at 8 years old. What: Klamath Outdoor Science School (KOSS) connects kids to the outdoors. There are a variety of programs offered throughout the year. Summer programs include “Artists and Scientists” camps and “Find your Niche in Nature,” which will include GPS training, orienteering and mapping, forestry restoration and trail-building, birding, kayaking and habitat restoration. When: Dates vary. Where: Outdoor school is at 56101 Sun Mountain Road, Fort Klamath. Office is located at 707 Cypress Ave., Klamath Falls. Cost: Programs are $245. Scholarships are available. What: Week-long residential camp through Klamath Hospice teaches team-building and remembrance activities meant to build trust and self-confidence. Teaches participants to cope with loss in safe, healthy ways. When: Aug. 18-22 Where: Mountain Lakes Bible Camp, 21200 Varney Creek Road, Klamath Falls Cost: Free. What: Week-long and four-day camps for several age groups with a blend of outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking and zip lines, religious praise and talks on Christian principles. What: One-week high adventure residential camps offering activities like white-water rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and caving. Camp McLoughlin Who: Cub Scouts ages 7 to 11, and girls age 8-14. What: Four-day, family oriented residential camps. Always occurring over weekends, the camp caters to Cub Scouts and parents offering activities such as archery, rowing, swimming, nature conservation, leather working, rock climbing and more. Girl Scouts of the USA Whispering Winds Camp Who: Girls entering first through 12th grade who are enrolled in Girl Scouts. What: Residential camp with adventure programs ranging in length from overnight to one week. Several programs are available for girls and parents or Girl Scout troops. When: Throughout the summer Where: Whispering Winds Camps located south of Corvallis Cost: $210 and up depending on the program. Every week has a theme that will expand thinking and lead to exciting hands-on activities. There will be local field trips in YMCA vans. Dates: Weeks beginning June 23 through Aug. 29. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: The Y of Klamath Falls, 1221 S. Alameda Ave. Cost: Price per week is $80 for Y members/$100 community, with the exception of June 30-July 2, when cost is $68 for members or $80 for community More Info: Campers must be fully potty trained. Super Camp Who: Children entering first through fifth grades What: Campers will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities that are designed to be both educational and a lot of fun. Kids will form friendships and learn new skills in every week of camp. Swimming and water activities, clubs for every interest level, team challenges and games, along with celebrating the great outdoors will be highlights of the summer. Local field trips will take place on Tuesdays for all campers. On Thursdays, there is a choice of an optional out-of-town filed trip or local off-site park activity. When: One-week sessions beginning June 16 through Aug. 29. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: The Y at Fairview, 1017 Donald St. Cost: $120 Y members/$150 community, with the exception of June 30-July 2, when cost is $100 for members or $120 for community Epic Camp Who: Students entering sixth through eighth grades What: Every week is filled with plenty of action, including swimming, service projects to help the community, local and out-of-town field trips, and more. When: One-week sessions beginning July 7 through Aug. 18. Where: The Y at Fairview, 1017 Donald St. Cost: Per week is $175 Y members/$190 community.
