Looking forward to Stephen Hawking being a Guest on Last Week - TopicsExpress

Looking forward to Stephen Hawking being a Guest on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on Sunday June 15th. Although I also enjoyed this episode on Net Neutrality. In the past I spoke of how providers like Netflix who use larger portions of telecommunications infrastructure should provide a funding model to help grow networks; however, that shouldnt be to offer a two tier system (eroding net neutrality) but used to help ensure available bandwidth across the Net. The issue is not to charging all content providers for traffic that crosses their networks as each service already pays their ISP to connect their service to the Internet and for data utilized. The concept of Verizon charging Netflix should NOT be to provide a premier service offering but simply recognize that as a commercial service provider of content that subscribers pay for a small downstream (last mile) licensing fee is utilized so that one commercial provider who utilizes a large percentage of another telecommunications providers network is not unfairly reducing the available bandwidth to other content providers (who dont charge for assessing their content) to ensure growth meets demand. The argument with Netflix is they are a commercial content provider and use a significant amount of a 3rd parties downstream telecommunications infrastructure (a small license fee should be applicable) to ensure they do not greatly reduces available bandwidth across multiple peers as to actually erode net neutrality for all other free content providers. The FCC Net Neutrality unlike what John Oliver speaks of if it is properly drafted in legislation will in fact enhance Net Neutrality for all by preventing one 3rd party commercial (keyword) provider from unfairly reducing available bandwidth available to other free content providers across the Net.
