Looking to tidy up your apartment for the Spring? Well aside from vacuuming, dusting, moping and such, here are a few more things you can do to freshen up your apartment: 1.) Spring clean your cupboards/cabinets - Items that you did not use in the Fall and Winter and that you know you will not use before their expiration date, you should donate to the food pantry. 2.) Spring clean that junk drawer--you know the one that has all the take out menus, rubber bands, and miscellaneous keys that you have no idea what they go to. Dump the drawer out on a sheet and start sorting. While sorting if you come across stuff that you havent used in a year--toss it. 3.) Spring clean your records. Many people hang on to every bill that comes in the mail and mark them as paid; however, you do not need the actual bill itself--just your payment date, method of payment, and confirmation number. These items can be saved in a spreadsheet and take up less space. Once you have logged a bill--shred it. 4.) Spring clean your drains. Even though your drains may not be clogged, it is a good idea to clean them every Season in efforts to be preventative. 1TBsp of Baking Soda and 1/2 cup of White Vinegar is all you need. Dump the Baking Soda in first and then the Vinegar (It will foam up--dont be alarmed). Allow to set for 15- 30 minutes and then turn on your water to rinse it down. It will leave your drain nice and clean and smelling fresh. 5.) Spring clean your Dryer - It is important to make sure you clean your Dryer Lint trap after EVERY load of laundry, but a good deep cleaning of the dryer is always beneficial as well. Remove your lint trap and wash it in HOT water with NO SOAP. This will get rid of any soap residue and/or fabric softener residue. Also use your vacuum hose to vacuum out the area where the lint trap rests. If you have not had your dryer hose vacuumed out lately, you can detach it from the dryer and vacuum it out OR call maintenance; we will be happy to service your dryer exhaust hose for you.
