Lord Jagannath and his cult is only a way of life. Many a time I have seen people from different parts of India respect me for being a resident of Odisha the land of Lord Jagannath. They hug me pay lot of respect and listen to my words with lot of concentration. In reality I am a very small man knows nothing about the greatness of Lord Jagannath and the cult. We are from childhood brought in an environment and surrounding which is usually known as Jagannath Cult. This cult teaches us to be sensible to mature, love it, grow it, know its importance, use it and behave accordingly. it tells us to be peace loving and respect others view and outlook. Perhaps this made us down to earth and made us peace loving spiritual people. Odias are mostly gentle and do not get into conflicting situations and mostly sacrificing type. Of course I am not that type. In most of the Odia families one will find lot of trees, vegetable and flower plants and different types of vegetarian and non vegetarian food preparation practices . They are mostly very simple in their dress materials and ritualistic in relation to different festivals. in many of the festivals they do not even require any priest or brahmins. In addition to so many greatness in their living they have strong conflicts of caste discrimination which is perhaps introduced in last 400/500 yrs back. In relation to the age of the Jagannath culture this is quite recent we may say. I always heard and read Lord Jagannath encompasses all the people, all the creatures, all the plants and so on . He is known as Purushottam too. Which means the deity who has all the virtues and powers. Therefore the discrimination we find can not be considered as the original one. The deities such as Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Divine Mother Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan are made up of Neem tree wood. Offered materials as food , medicine, colour etc are all natural. All the decorative materials, fabrics are from nature. They represent nature and nature only. This cult in original form and practice does not follow religion or rituals. JAGANNATH CULT IS WAY OF LIFE ONLY. In later stage people might have included it in Brahmin way of worshipping him. In reality the cult belongs to people who believe, love and surrendered to greatness of nature. Therefore we are taught and all our people believe Lord Jagannath is our true true father, mother, guide and friend. We may forget Him but he never disown us. In midst of all the chaos and difficulties he only stands to support us. This is the faith very strong here too. Of course in millions of families of Odisha and India they practice this faith for ages. Herewith I call all my FB friends to realise that if you are in love with nature you are a Lord Jagannaths person. In Purushottam Yoga it is told who loves nature and engaged in planting trees or drops is a PURUSHOTTAM YOGI. It is found decorative materials for Lord is always flowers. In Sri Mandir at Puri the abode of deities I find quintals of flowers are offered every day. Those flowers are purchased from different parts of the country. Similar is the condition of the Food Prasadam which is known as Mahaprasadam the most sacred offerings to deities. I call all the nature lovers as PURUSHOTTAM YOGIs.
