Lordy Moses. Up for almost 3 hrs since 3:30 AM, researching what could be wrong with my 2006 Jeep Renegade (purchased to replace my perfect 2004 jeep that was totalled in the June 3 baseball-size hailstorm.) ever since having it in Low for all of 5 seconds in Oct to hook onto another truck & help pull in reverse... its been problems popping up ever since. First, had a Part Time light go on/stay on (even after dis-engaging the Low.) My hubs said Oh, just drive it. After researching [+driving it, but allthewhile worried I was possibly damaging it) Mark got tired of me griping about it. He determined (with a lot of help from God! And luck?) there was a blown sensor, which he replaced = Part Time light off. However [yes, STILL under the June 2014 hailstorm cloud from hell] soon after that *fix*, a roaring/growling sound started from towards the front of the Jeep. Again, I told the husband I was very leery of the just drive it mindset, thinking it could cause damage (= 1 hr drive daily RT for work cant be good on a vehicle if there is a possible issue, was my thinking.) Weeks later, I cant stand it any longer. Have been up researching it, going on Jeep forums, Google-ing the symptoms like a mad woman and even hit up Ask Yahoo. IMHO, all signs now pointing to front end differential having a possible fluid leak (those Jeeps are known for that, how lovely) and THAT may be the cause of the sound, IF said low-fluid and/or fluid leak hasnt also caused bearing damage? Mr. Bensen is thinking surely not--- he didnt put that much fluid in when filling the FD compartment, so how could that little bit of it being low cause such an issue? 😳😣😳😣 Im just saying that if mucho research by an educated female is turning up some indicators, dear heart, youd better check it tonight, just to see if you CAN determine if it IS blown bearings and/or if the front differential does need replaced. #justsayin #donttellmenounlessyouvelookedintoit BTW: Question 1: what is estimated cost of a shop rebuilding a front differential vs replacing with a new front differential? Question 2: where in Blair is reputable to have this kind of work done where you dont have to sell your firstborn? (Cant even think of having work done at a stealership.)
