Lorraine Graziano Crimando 13 hrs · Taipei, Taiwan · Edited SENT TODAY TO RISA WEINSTOCK, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE NYC AC&C. Subject: The Murder Sprees at the AC&C It always boggles my mind to watch your sleight of hand as you maneuver to morph negatives into positive outcomes in the face of daily slaughters at the AC&C. Were only 13 days into the month of October 2014 and 58 dogs are tucked away in body bags and are by now ashes at the city-contracted crematorium. It also boggles the mind of animal advocates everywhere how your powerpoint presentations always focus on your imagined successes and never mention the pile of corpses youre accumulating. And speaking of editing, how come only minutes of the minutes of the last AC&C meeting got published instead of the full meeting, as mandated by law? Somebody spoke out of turn and opened a Pandoras box? Dogs and cats have a right to live. Im just not sure where you get yours. And killing for a living (and a lavish one at that) makes me wonder where in your employment contract it mentions must be willing to authorize killing every single day. Lots of people are also wondering how youre maneuvering around animal laws and using kennel cough as an excuse for murder when it would be so easy just to clean kennels between occupants and advocate to alleviate shelter overcrowding. But then, youd have to actually stand up to the Department of Health and ask what happened to the 2 new shelters it stole. The fact is, however, that you are a public servant paid by NYC taxpayers and they (and not the DOH) are your employers, so its rather odd that you never account to the people that really pay you or consider listening to how they feel about the job youre doing. And speaking of your job, it would be so nice if you actually managed your employees - the ones that dont do their jobs; the ones that jeopardize and/or actually conspire to prejudice adoptions; the ones that dont think cleaning cages or walking dogs falls within the purview of their employment. It would be so nice if your employees didnt murder dogs with rescues and adopters en route to the shelters and if vet techs could slow down the assembly line murder. It would be even nicer if the Chief Medical Director you hired wasnt invisible while sick and injured dogs and cats die in their cages for lack of vet care. And how about adoptions events - some effort made to save a few animals? With a mobile van at your disposal it appears to be collecting a lot of dust in a garage somewhere. At the June 2014 AC&C board meeting you happily announced that the AC&C would be no-kill by 2015 which in my book is a mere 2-1/2 months away. Yet at the September AC&C meeting you didnt even mention no-kill, so we assume that we should prepare for the next letdown because there have been so many of them. To be honest, Ms. Weinstock, several thousand animal advocates and networkers have issues with your methods and even more of them with your ethics. Given the choice, theyd be delighted to see your back walking out the door of the AC&C and theyre working on accomplishing just that. Killing homeless animals day after day and not making any efforts to save them is not a job. Its an obsession with bloodletting and completely offensive. You need to reassess your ethics and absence of compassion because the lack thereof prejudices everyones ability to think of you as a human being. I wouldnt plan on a future at the AC&C because you wore out your welcome long ago and animal advocates and taxpayers have had enough of your ineptitude. There must be a job out there somewhere for someone that has a penchant for killing. Maybe in some third-world country? Email address: [email protected]
