Lots of Mac Granter poems published in The Greenspond Letter! As I came from fishing this morning Of course I were bound for my stage With five hundred pounds of choice cod fish That I jigged on the wall of the ledge. Our town council they needed a driver And knowing the wages been small They wondered who they get to drive her From August till late in the Fall. Now someone did speak of Ben Downer I am sure its a streak of good luck No better in town could ever be found When he started adriving the truck. The dogs are all barking the cats are all meowing The hens are all saying cluck cluck When way down the street I heard the beep beep It is Downer adriving the truck. Well all say hello to Ben Downer And smile as he passes along We know by the way that he is driving He is bound for the head of Greenspond. They say he have goods for Fred Stratton No doubt that will be his first stop With a package or two for the public And the rest for the west end Co-op. So well all say hello to Ben Downer No doubt hell be with us once more And well fill up our glasses at Christmas And sing about long island shore.
