Lots of fun things coming up here on the island. Saturday, May 24th is the annual Firemans Ball ( one of my most favorite island events!!). If you are going to be on the island this is a not to miss event. It kicks off with a pig-pickin, followed by a silent auction and live auction. Then enjoy a great evening of music and dancing with the Dune Dogs, Aaron Caswell Band, and the Ocracoke Rockers. All are welcome! Proceeds benefit the Ocracoke Fire Protection Association. The Firemen’s Ball started years ago when a couple of talented musicians who love Ocracoke gathered to play music and raise some money for a good cause. Since then, the original group (The Dune Dogs) out of Raleigh, NC, with the help of local band the Ocracoke Rockers, have come together every year to make this fundraiser a huge success. Not only is it a good time, it is an important fundraiser for the fire department.
