Lots of you may know about Breast Cancer treatment. The second - TopicsExpress

Lots of you may know about Breast Cancer treatment. The second phase of chemo for me in 2007 (Taxol, I think) produced very intense, unpredictable waves of bone and joint pain, which Tylenol 3s didnt touch. The physician prescribed 100 Oxycodone (incidentally, without conducting a risk assessment on potential for addiction). I only took one, which didnt really do anything, and I was terrified of complicating my already precarious health. So, I did the only thing I could think of, which was to resume running, up and down the 7th Line. It didnt make any of it easier, it just seemed to make it possible to cope. This too, went in waves, and ceased again during radiation. Running since then has been inconsistent and more difficult. ANYWAY, this Toronto Waterfront Marathon for Camp Kerry Society is now 12 weeks away. I am slow (like 8.5min/km slow), but my distance was only 5km and knew if I couldnt get up to 6.5 km this weekend, running the Half was going to be impossible for me. It still might be impossible for me. However, tonight I went back to the 7th Line to run. And did the run at a 7.5km rate. For sure the body has a memory for trauma, but we forget it also has a memory for how we cope with it.
