Louwse kloof opposite Mamre, a farm I grew up on that once belonged to my Grand father Herman Adolf Johannes since 1923. In 1968 he and his family was removed from the farm, due to he old regime land act. I still visit the old homestead when i need to be alone and reflect on my life or read a book. Now I believe the new ANC gov. Want to claim it as they say it was a hiding place for their comrades for a few months before they were incasserated by the old regime. Nobody lives there anymore but the place is full of history, eg. The home of the khoi chief Hans Klapmuts and his sister Benigna Johannes and the farm was passed on during the generations the the last of the surviving blood relative by the name of Cornelius John Johannes.In 1972 everyone had to clear out and leave the farm. We have submitted a claim but was unsuccessful. I hope their is someone who could assist us in restoring the farm land back to the original owners.
