Love can be Deceiving! It may seem transparent or easy to accomplish, but restaging a play for movie production is no small task. And if it were, “CATS”, the second longest running play in Broadway history would have been a blockbuster at your local theatre. But it ain’t. That’s why so many critics were astonished with Snoop Robinson’s new “indie” film “Deceptions of Love.” All in all it was a seamless transition that moved the audience from serious drama to humor and applause. “Deceptions of Love” is a takeoff from Snoop’s successful play entitled “Love, Lies and Friendships.” Love, at its very best is fragile and unpredictable, but a misplaced sentiment or strategy can make it all go bad in an instant. “Deceptions of Love” starts on good footing, but eventually the ghosts from past relationships and feelings of inadequacy and insecurity takes its toll. The newlyweds, Morris and his bride Venice who are instantly smitten with one another start out with the best intentions. They have the look and feel of a marriage made in heaven, but the test and trials of matrimony can lead anyone to tell their mate to go to hell. And eventually it comes to that end. Shanna, Morris’ ex and now a mentally ill stalker, returns with a vowed and veiled vengeance. Shanna pledges to get her man. And although she is never visibly detected by the couple in their first year of wedded bliss, she has taken residence; body and spirit. Her presence and the presence of doubts planted on the young bride by her “friends” proved too much. “Deceptions of Love” is well written, has a great and capable cast, and all of the ingredients to make it a spellbinding love story of our time. You will not be disappointed with this movie. “Deceptions of Love” is another example of how well Snoop Robinson understands his craft and offers his own brand of creativity. It’s a WINNER!
