Love this mans soul. Alot of wisdom here. Part of this bit takes on Daves refusal to cross dress for a role. Do I believe every African-American comedian who has donned a dress has souled out or further contributed to the feminization of the black male? No. Not at all. Plenty of white men have done the same thing for nothing more than mere laughs and it did not make them less manly. Think... Tim Allen, Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, the list goes on. When playing a female is done accurately by someone who is secure in their manhood, its damn funny. Nothing more to it. Putting on a dress for a comedic purpose is alot different than actually sporting similar garments and calling it fashion as some of these modern-day rappers / nba players do. Sometimes as people, we read too things and look for the negatives. But maybe Dave just wanted to be one of the few who never went that route because hes not a follower and it was too much of a common thread he saw amongst black comedians coming up. I respect Dave Chappelle for every stand he has taken to protect his name, his brand, his own personal beliefs, and most importantly, his soul. Gotta love this guys soul. One of the best comedians to ever do it.
