Lt. Plitt of the The Weaver Police Department wrote me this message: Telesa, herein lies the problem.....you have fallen into the race baiting trap set by so many. I dont know what books youre reading, but it sounds to me like the books you are reading are something that may have been written by the likes of Al Sharpton. Plitt also went on to remind me that slavery ended and segregation ended in 1965 so I should stop living in the past. Another woman commented that Africans sold Africans into slavery. Well here is my response to all that think the same way. Race baiting seems to be the new hot button word for the fools at FOX. Any time a black person calls a racist a racist then he becomes a race baiter. But who created the races in America? There was no need for a classification of race until slavery. White people had to have a way to separate and differentiate those they viewed as inferior. White people created segregation in this country in order to KEEP the races separate. WHITE PEOPLE DID THAT!!! (Many of whom are still alive today) So now that black people point out the separations and the unfair treatment because of race we are labeled race baiters? Lol Really? Slavery was not that long ago and the effects are still felt by black people today. I tried to trace my family tree. I know my father, my grandfather, and great grandfather. But when I searched the census past my great grandfather it only tells me how many slaves were on that plantation. No names. Unlike white people, Black people can never trace their heritage back past when they ancestors were brought to this country as slaves. We don’t have a history. We have lost our heritage. The language we speak is not the language of our forefathers. The name I carry, Stanford, is the name of the man that owned my family. Even the food we eat as black people is a direct result of what our ancestors ate as slaves and it has continued to be passed down because our traditions started in slavery. The food they ate were the waste no one wanted but we took what they gave us and put love in to it and it became soul food. Yes Africans sold other Africans into slavery just like there were Jews that funded and aided the Nazis. Does that make the Holocaust less horrible? No white person in America would tell a Holocaust survivor that the abuse they suffered was in the past so get over it. They would never tell the descendants of that person to forget about it. So why do white people want black people to get over it and move on? It is because they can’t admit to themselves the horrors that were committed on American soil by their ancestors.
