Lucas Hoving in his 80s! I wish I had been able to see this performance! I remember the pendulum - it was a part of many classes. The first time he brought it out, only a few people, my six-year-old son and I included, were familiar with it. (My son was dropped off every day at class and Lucas invited him to participate!) Lucas gave him the pendulum while we were sitting in a circle and A.J. was in his lap. He took it and sat perfectly still, in a kind of trancelike state, patiently holding the the pendulum very still until it began moving in a circle on its own. Lucas and the other students were drawn into this meditation. Finally, Lucas said, We have a Bodhisatva in our midst.
