Lucille Van Pelt grew up to be a world-famous psychologist, - TopicsExpress

Lucille Van Pelt grew up to be a world-famous psychologist, author, and talk show host, known to her millions of fans simply as Dr. Lucy. She travels the country lecturing - among other things, she inveighs against the evils of forcing children to play classical music at an overly young age. (Such as Beethoven - ESPECIALLY Beethoven!) Such studies, she says, distract children from forming important interpersonal and emotional bonds with their peers - a theory she expounded on at length in her first best-seller, STOP PLAYING THAT STUPID PIANO AND LOOK AT ME! She also pooh-poohs attempts to reduce bullying and abuse among children, especially between siblings. Oh yes, I TORTURED my brother, she says, mentally, physically, emotionally... I was cruel. I was intimidating. I was, yes, physically abusive towards him, on many occasions. And look, he turned out JUST FINE! Van Pelts brother, Dr. Linus Van Pelt, PhD, LLD, DD, now holds the Deans Chair at both Yale Law and Yale Divinity School. Aside from his many academic achievements, Dr. Van Pelt is known for always carrying the same antique flannel handkerchief in the breast pocket of his coat; its significance is unknown. Neither he nor his sister have ever married.
