Lucozade Powerleague Paisley Press Centre:- Saturday Morning League *** CELTA VIMTO v THE CITY *** If the game was played on paper Stephens men, The City, would have won this judging by the difference in the league table. However, Neil’s team, Celta Vimto, fought hard for their victory and actually won with a comfortable margin. Bad day at the office for The City or just an exceptional performance from Celta? *** BISHOPTON v THE PINK CIGARS *** Well we did warn Brian. High on form Bishopton seemed to outclass Pink Cigars in this outing as they claimed all 3 points in this interesting tie. Bishopton would now have leapfrogged Pink Cigars into 2nd place... But wait... Pink Cigars have two games today. A win in the second would see them fix the mistakes in this game! *** THE BEACHES v NEW CO *** New week, same story...different man of the match though! As Kev Hagan seemed not at his best today it was John Keith, captain of The Beaches who picked up the award for his efforts on the pitch. Jims men, New Co, just couldn’t handle the pressure of being up against the Champions. This was probably due to the fact that just before kickoff they only had 4 men and had to pull in a body to help out! Beaches remain top! *** TODHOLM v STRASBOURG *** A close encounter and almost a win for Cammys men, but still the search for a point goes on. Todholm were resilient in defence but it seemed like a few of their top men were not at their best today. The win was hard fought against a tough Strasbourg but Todholm were able to call upon the more experienced players in the team to show them over the finish line and collect the points. Todholm made it hard for themselves with constant slack passes and wild runs from players who failed to track back... I blame Gary.. it’s always his fault. *** PINK CIGARS v LYONCROSS *** With Honkeys postponing their match V Lyoncross we had to find a new fixture for Craig Brown’s men. Thankfully Brian Christie’s Pink Cigars had a game in the waiting to be played against Lyoncross, so Brian’s team would have two games today! This being the second of the two, coming off the back of a defeat to Bishopton they would have to pull it together, and quick! Within minutes of finshing up their first match they were back into action and it seemed like the team talk worked. Pink Cigars took the game by the scruff of the neck and were finishing their chances when given to them. Lyoncross seemed deflated after half time and it was more about keeping the score down than trying to claim any points.
