Lughnasadh starts at sundown. It occurs at the midpoint between the Aestival Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox. The Crossquarter point is around 10am EDT on the 7th. This is the Last Day of Summer and tomorrow the First Day of Fall. The beginning of The Time of the Reaper, the Festival of First Harvest, The Grain Harvest. The Feast to honor the Sacrificial God. The Celebration of the Life of Lugh, the God of Manifold Skills. The Holy Day of Grain Mothers and the Blessing of the Ovens. The Bread Fair. Festival of Bull and Berry. The Season of Abundance and Death. A Blessed and Bright Lughnasadh to you, each and every one. May your harvests be bountiful and abundance fill your life. May the Reaper pass you by or at least treat you gently. May you find your talents and refine your skills. May you have the sweetness of berries and the sustenance of grain. May your spear find its mark and your aim never fail you. May you find your way through danger or trick your way out of it when you when there is no clear path. Gather your harvest, enjoy an afternoon outside, play a game with friends, test your skills, hone your talents, pick some berries, grill some beef, eat some corn, bake a loaf of bread, have a bowl of oats, begin reaching out to your past for communion with your Ancestors, teach something or learn something new, light a fire, and above all else, spend some time mediating on the Abundance in Your Life and what was sacrificed to get it there. Bless the Reaper and Blessed Be the Sacrifice She Takes for He Sustains Life…
