Luke 24: 52 They worshiped him and went back into Jerusalem, - TopicsExpress

Luke 24: 52 They worshiped him and went back into Jerusalem, filled with great joy, 53 and spent all their time in the Temple giving thanks to God. (GNT) After what the disciples experienced it is not surprising that they worshiped the Lord Jesus and gave thanks. But this is not the end of the story, even though it is the final verse in Luke. A new chapter is beginning. (and a new book, Acts). They were only part way through the story. What incredible adventures were ahead? It was, however, a pause - ten days before the Holy Spirit will be given and the world open up to them. They could hardly have imagined that at this point. They are in the moment - worshiping and giving thanks. How like us. We are so much in the moment, whether that is elation or grief. This moment is too present. It obscures the future. So what is the future? What of tomorrow, or even this afternoon? We had a really good time of worship yesterday at church. We enjoyed fellowship with brothers and sisters from around the world. We heard the Word spoken powerfully to us so that it moved us. But what about today? What adventure? What blessing? By Gods grace I determine to look to the future with expectation. What may he do? I want to be part of it. What challenges? I want to be resting in him and prepared for what is ahead. One thing is sure. He is there. And I can look forward with anticipation rather than intrepidation. He is there.
