Luke AiGuo just called me mommy!!!!!!! He is watching Despicable Me in French and subtitled in Chinese. (So weird.) He is cracking up and keeps saying, Mommy to get my attention to funny parts. We keep referring to ourselves as Mama and Baba in Chinese, but Im just realizing he doesnt want to talk in Chinese anymore.Hes been repeating English words and phrases all day. Rodger tried to get him to tell the people at the counter tonight that he wanted ice cream and he refused. Not in an obstinate way,I think he just doesnt want to use Chinese. On the plane we told him to tell the flight attendant what he wanted to drink and he said, Water in English to her and he knows full well she barely spoke English. Luke will be attending a 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 English speaking school when we get back so he wont lose his Chinese and to make it easier for him to learn English, but I think hes sort of taking a stand at the moment. Good for him. This is significant given what has happened to him and the story I have yet to tell, the one Im praying about sharing. The one I was in the middle of writing when he called me Mommy. Another milestone in our babys life. Praise God.
