Luther is recovering from a brain injury and neurological - TopicsExpress

Luther is recovering from a brain injury and neurological impairment that resulted from a botfly larvae that migrated to his right frontal lobe. He is in the middle of an unprecedented recovery. Mere weeks ago, everyone who met him was certain he would die. He could not stand, and he had the wilted look of a cat who has given up. Now Luther walks, runs, even climbs stairs. He plays and eats up a storm. While he still sometimes stumbles, he is looking much more like a normal cat and has regained his will to live. But Luthers specialist recommends waiting until his progress plateaus before neutering him. And because he is not neutered yet, Luther smells terrible, sprays and wants to spat with some other cats. He has been in foster care with a kind family, but they let us know that they cannot take it much longer. We would likee to wait several weeks to a month or so before neutering Luther. In the meantime, he probably needs to be kept in a cage or in a room where he can spray without causing serious damage. He also should not be integrated into anyones household just yet because, as noted, he is likely to spray and spat with your cats. Integration into a household will have to come later, after he is healthy enough to neuter. We realize there are few, if any, foster homes able to accommodate Luthers special needs. But if we dont ask, we have no chance of reaching that person who may or may not exist. Is there anyone out there with a spare room who might be able to foster Luther? If so, please contact Susan at (314) 478-4502 or susanfbauer@gmail
