MAGMAXITA - (An Extract) - I detest fortune telling, astrology, voodoo, most forms of religion and their various spin-off sects, witchcraft, gambling, black and white magic, hocus-pocus and all forms of superstition (with or without braying asses in attendance) that limit free, clear, concise and creative thinking, thereby stunting mental growth and delimiting independent personally directed and freely controlled knowledge acquisition. Having been interested in the outer limits of human imagination, regarding humankinds Definitive Universal Presence, I became interested in astronomy at quite a young age. I tried my hardest to befriend people with telescopes and read and bought as many books on astrophysics and astromathematics that I could understand, afford and gain access to, as I grew up. Dr Russell Barrow (radiologist and inventor), Dr Maura Imbert (research scientist and inventor), John Lockhart (teacher and scientist), Dr Roger Barnes (professor and research scientist) and Thora O’Conner (experienced amateur Patagonian astronomer) headed the Trinidad and Tobago Astronomical Society (TTAS) from inception. TTAS had two quite powerful motorized telescopes, very kindly and considerately donated in quick succession by German and Canadian Governments in the early 1970’s. This formative Trinidad group had entertained astronomy luminary and NASA consultant, Dr Carl Sagan, on his way back to California, after honeymooning in Tobago. This was a short time before Sagans popular international 6-part television series Cosmos. Sadly, the relatively young genius died a few years later … A loss, not to any one nation, but the world for this foresighted though, at times, overly speculative man. We currently live amidst so many twenty first century pending and ongoing religious, racial and political heretical inquisitions not unlike the Catholic Inquisition and perhaps now conforming to the various “Churches of the Status Quo” ... brawn and mass hysterical ignorance killing off and winning now against independently free brain power ... all over this ecologically doomed and accursed planet Earth ... And Im not being religious or a fashionable Doomsday Theorist. Instead of reading and digesting photographs, one must see with the telescopically-assisted naked eye, the gaps between Saturns rings and a few of its moons in motion; Jupiter and a few of its orbiting moons (planets?); details in our moons mares [Latin for (former?) seas] and deep within its new and ancient craters, with their central cones ... with even the odd massive boulder just laying around inside a crater ... The Seven Sisters are a truly sight to behold, but the Orion Nebula M42 in Orions sword (off the belt) is a shocker when first viewed, like a large pink and purple piece of veiled lace, floating in mega-distant space, with white suns flickering brightly and scattered in its midst. Venus and Mars are disappointing in spite of their close proximity to us. Mars is just basically, but uniquely, reddish in appearance; however, seeing Venus in its crescent phases, like our moon can be surprising at first. Venus, because its quasi-elliptical solar orbit is inside of, but slightly overlapping that of Earth, is unique amongst our solar planets in its having a perpetual crescent phase, to local terrestrial observers, which is strictly at early morning or early evening ... hence the ancient nomenclature Morning Star and Evening Star ... Our ancestors not knowing about Planets ... called every night “light” in the sky a Star. But note that this Crescence (new word!) is not visible to the naked eye ... hence, a bit of an initial shock in seeing it through a telescope or moderately powered binoculars. Incidentally, this phenomenon does not (and will not) exist for any observer stationed on any planet looking at any other planet in our solar system. Quite unique, for otherwise quite unspectacular, even spatially-boring, planet Earth, with its selfish, mundane, ignorant and negligent madmen and women running around in suicidal circles on its surface, myopically planning and fulfilling its premature destruction. I obtained a third-hand telescope in 1979 and spent much time, night after night, just visually wandering all over the visible lunar hemisphere. There is a mass of lunar information available even with a small telescope. Peering inside recent lunar craters and examining mountains ... most three, four, times the height of El Tucuche, visibly precisely plumb in the middle of most single newly formed craters, looking so much like a frozen photo time-frame of a stone being dropped into a pool of mud, with the after-blip of mud rising up out of the middle after stone impact ... frozen there in forgotten/unknown time and space into a perfectly formed massive central cone, in many such craters. The exception being where a new crater-forming “impacting object” struck the rim of an older crater, partly destroying the older central mountain of the latter. The “sharpness” of the crater’s protruding rim (aka walls) is an easy indication of the relative age of the crater, being a function of local weathering over time. Was the moon then a glob of spherical molten magma at impact time? And what impacted the moon? Asteroidal chunks, meteors, a meteorite shower, a disintegrating comet? Or was the formative moon a superheated bubbling boiling magmatic mass, with craters being formed on bubbles’ meeting the lunar atmosphere and solidifying on emergence and bursting. And why is there a similar geophysical surface situation with craters on Mercury and Venus? And why nothing like these cratered features on Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, >>> +++ !!! Prior to the start of space exploration, and powerful terrestrial and orbiting telescopy, in my youth, Pluto was the outer planetary detectable limit, for us “simpler folk” then … But, on relatively recently released photos, the same “cratered” lunar features also appear on many of the moons of each of Saturn and Jupiter, in particular most strikingly Callisto and Ganymede, but not with the same pockmark density as Earth’s immediate solitary companion. Why not craters on all of the moons of these two giants of our solar system? And why not also on the moons host planets? And why do a few of these non-cratered moons of Jupiter (Io and Europa) and Saturn (Enceladus and Titan) and Uranus (Miranda - looks very promising) and Neptune (Triton - looks good too) appear so invitingly habitable (or already inhabited?), with mysterious surface markings, many brightly multi-coloured, some with a now confirmed oxygen and water presence already in place. This recent visual information came, amongst others, via “National Geographic” and ESA and Russian fly-by photos. There is even a 2018 joint ESA/Russian planned landing on Europa, the Jovian satellite (moon/planet), to search, specifically, for life forms there, within the already confirmed hospitable water and oxygen conducive environment for such. And there are there so many “strange” lines and markings on Europa’s surface, revealed by the fly-bys ... At least what the mass of global humanity has been allowed to see. The “Internet” can reveal a lot, if you the have the interest and patience. Sometimes Id watch around the night clock, going to work late, or missing days completely. But nobody complained because, with an “externally” stimulated brain, I became more “internally” stimulated, creative and productive in my job, in the short and medium terms anyway; but, for about nine months, I had become a field slave to the night sky and its bodies. Amazing what detail comes your way, just that way. Russia has photographic maps of the Dark Side of the Moon and now in the public domain. You can acquire them via the Internet. There is an immense crater on the dark side, which only lunar-orbiting cosmonauts/astronauts have ever seen ... These ranks are soon to be joined by the European Space Agency (ESA), Japanese, Chinese and Indian Space-travellers. Plans for all four are quickly approaching maturity ... especially ESA and China. ESA is currently miles ahead of the competition in outer space technological applications (except for Russian delivery systems, which they make partial use of), especially automatic robotic docking of massive spacecraft ... technology to be used for the planned ESA Manned Martian journey. Russia continues to be Global leader in successful solid-fuel Mega-Rockets’ safe and “pin point” accurate deliveries and linkups. The US space shuttle has outlived its usefulness and is now defunct. Japan will soon lead in nuclear powered spacecraft technology. Russia and ESA will be the leaders in outer space solar power. And China will do everything in space more economically, but temporarily more primitively, than the competition ... they are also leaders, perhaps because of their great enthusiasm to catch up with the other Biggies, in severely polluting inner space with their now growing and excessive debris. Others have complained about this, and it has already led to their (identified) debris wrecking very expensive high-tech third party satellites on more than one occasion. The US, in spite of early pioneering ventures, are increasingly trailing the others in planned, deliverable missions, except for plans to take the super-rich for orbital joy rides with the financial aid of Richard Branson and his Virgin Aerospace”. Some say that the borrowed/rented/enslaved post-WW2 German scientists, like Werner Von Braun, the man who led NASA in its early successes, including the many moon missions, are all dead or retired now and that, because of a paucity of basic innate brain power, poor Tom Dooley appears to be lost in a neck of the woods ... Money alone can no longer buy certain commodities ... no matter how much of the “ill-gotten” one may currently possess. John S Archer JSA/jsa THU22JAN09 REV: SUN06APR14 ||==+==||
