MAIL FROM RI PRESIDENT RON BURTON !!! JOIN ME IN CHENNAI 5-6 OCTOBER 25 September 2013 Dear District Governors: I have a simple promise for you. If you join me 5-6 October in Chennai, India, you will see Rotary in a new way. You’ll see all of our talk about New Generations translated into action. You’ll experience, firsthand, the power of a new generation of leaders working together. When you connect with those dynamic leaders in Chennai, you’ll want to discover them in your district. You’ll want to find ways to make Rotary a place where young members are welcome, where service matters, and where leaders—of any age—have a place at our table. I hope the conference in Chennai inspires you to host your own New Generations event where young leaders in your district can discover all they can achieve through Rotary. Because that’s what these conferences are about—engaging Rotarians, empowering young people, and bringing new energy to Rotary in every community. The event in Chennai is the first of five presidential New Generations conferences we’ve planned for the 2013-14 Rotary year. I’ll be there to get things started, but you’ll really enjoy the rest of the program. Rotary will recognize young achievers for leadership in the arts and entrepreneurship. We’ll partner with Rotaractors to promote literacy by donating 8 lakh books—that’s 800,000 books—and prevent rubella by giving 1,000 vaccinations to young women. We’ll listen as young people from Mumbai’s Dharavi community make music together with recycled instruments.
