MAJOR FIRE UPDATE: The bushfire burning in the Murraguldire State Forecast area between Humula and Little Billabong (60/70km SE of Wagga) is now around 7200 hectares in size and is at *Watch & Act* level. It is still uncontained and continues to burn erratically and rapidly towards the south. Around 150 fire fighters, supported by heavy plant and aircraft, are on scene. Crews continue to protect properties and establish control lines to the north on Shockeroo Road, east on Carabost Road and south from Little Billabong to Volkins Creek Road. Residents should be aware of a potential mid-afternoon west to southwesterly wind change that has potential to see fire again threaten Humula village. There are a number of isolated rural properties that remain under threat in the Humula, Carabost and Little Billabong areas. Little Billabong and Tumbarumba-Wagga Roads remains closed. Residents can expect to see smoke from backburning throughout the day. Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a Bush Fire Survival Plan, know what you will do if the fire threatens your property. If you plan to leave, leave early. Well prepared, actively defended homes can offer safety during the fire. If you live in the area but are away from home, it may not be safe to return to your property. If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Continue to stay up to date with the bush fire situation by checking rfs.nsw.gov.au, listening to your local radio station or by calling the NSW RFS Bush Fire Information Line on 1800 679 737.
