My very compatible neighbor in East Studios :) Great guy and great things happening in Red Wing because of the UMC team. Read on to learn more... A word about Mike Arturi, Founder and Director of Universal Music Center (UMC) - a nonprofit doing great things in the building next to my studio. Together, Mike, me in the Chicken Coop Studio, and Mark Abrahamson in the Garage Studio, make up East Studios here on The Anderson Center at Tower View campus - the more lively side of campus while more of the the peace and tranquility seeking artists are on the other side of campus in North Studios. While I cant hear whats coming out of the UMC, I do often feel the good vibrations My studio is the only one with wood floors (a must for me) since I always have the music cranked for the vibes while Im working. Anyway, back to Mike and the UMC. Mike and his team of instructors all deserve much praise and recognition for adding so much to the already music-friendly Red Wing area. In just over a year since opening UMC, Mike has created an environment that supports and contributes to the creative and economic vibrancy of our community - impacting all ages of all backgrounds. Not just in teaching music (theory, skills, performance, professionalism and ethics) through a wide range of instruments (drums/percussions, guitar, piano/keyboards, violin...) and experiences; but also in opening doors to how music (and vibrations) can and do influence lives and community for the good.
