MAKING IT TO DONOSTIA (San Sebastián in Euskera) I guess - TopicsExpress

MAKING IT TO DONOSTIA (San Sebastián in Euskera) I guess it’s fair to say that after the International San Sebastián Film Festival, the renowned jazz festival, “Jazzaldía”, the Donosti Cup has to be one the biggest events this post-card perfect city hosts. One couldn’t pick a more spectacular backdrop for any cultural or sporting event. The beauty of this city hasn’t words in English, Spanish nor Euskera (Basque language) to properly describe this impressive setting. The Donosti Cup is celebrating its 23rd edition (6 – 12 July). Considered one of Europe’s largest amateur football (soccer) tournaments, 2014 has gathered 429 teams from 5 continents. Coerver Australia has returned with 3 teams, BU13 & BU15 and the girls U14s. As we unloaded the bus in a flickering rain fall, while the parents checked-in at a hotel nearby, the semantic joke, playing with the name of our residence OLARAIN was, “hola (hello) rain”! And rain it did, indeed. However nothing can dampen our spirit of participation and competition. The Aussie players wasted no time befriending players from Spain, Canada and the U.S.; also residing in our university residence/hotel. First kick-off tomorrow, Monday the 6th is at 11h. Oh the rain or Oh not the rain, we’re here to have us the best tournament possible. All the best to all of the Coerver Australia youth and thanks once again to all their faithful supporters.
