MALASO ESCARPMENT VIEW POINT Following Daniel Loldepes post of Maralal places of attraction, I was convinced to visit Malaso for a second time since 2008 taking a steep Poro ascent at a snail pace meticulously exploring the eye catching farmlands, going through a dense forest, cows majestically grazing on the slopes and open sprawling land lush with soggy green grass after a brief afternoon showers. Malaso is a spectacular physical feature with untapped potential and word is not out enough to stream traffic there. Particularly, I forgot the way to Malaso with vague memory taking the Tamiyoi road but not exact where to take a turn left to Poro town. I decided to consult Google Map to lead me to Malaso driving from Yare but even the name itself is not searchable. I decided to visit Kenyatta House and plan Malaso tomorrow but again the same techincal case. Finally I braved my way to Malaso and by good luck I found a kind guide midway who escorted me to the view point and back. We met old wazees who offered us binoculars to scan the horizons, explaining the nitty gritty of the area creating a very friendly bond. In return I gave them good treats and momentous mentorship. On our way back, we made a stop at my guides farm and family home where he generously offered me free maize cobs. What a gracious community up there!? It is high time we anchor these places of attraction online to be searchable and lead traffic of motorists independently around them. This Camel Derby alone, is able to lead a traffic of 200 cars to Malaso with an average of at least 300 occupants. Tomorrow, I do another visit of Kenyatta House and Kirisia Forest. Thank you Daniel for always being passionate in conservation and tourism development of the county, you triggered a kinda domestic tourist in me spending my few shillings in Malaso for the good part of my sundwoner evening.
