MALAYSIA GOVT EDUCATION MALAYSIA GLOBAL SERVICES WHICH IS ONE STOP CENTER FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS ADVISING THEM TO LODGE COMPLAINTS IF HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VISAS AND THEY SHOULD ALSO NOT ABUSE THEIR VISAS AND NOW ADDING 11 IMMIGRATION OFFICERS TO HELP STREAMLINE THE WORK AND FEEDBACK FROM PRIVATE EDUCATION OPERATORS WILL BE USED AS A YARDSTICK TO HANDLE FOREIGN STUDENT VISA PROCESSING 19TH FEB.2014 KUALA LUMPUR: Feedback from private higher education operators will be used as a yardstick to evaluate the handling of foreign student visa processing by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, who said this, added that continuous engagement with private higher education operators would be key to improving the efficiency of the one-stop centre for foreign student enrolment. “The IPTS (private institutions of higher learning) will be asked to assess EMGS. We want to know whether they are satisfied with the services provided,” he told reporters after visiting the EMGS one-stop centre yesterday. The minister said EMGS had faced several problems when it was first set up but was doing much better now, adding that 11 Immigration officers had been seconded to EMGS to help streamline workflow. On reports that foreign students were “stranded” due to problems with their visa applications, Idris said they could lodge complaints with the one-stop centre. Idris advised foreign students not to abuse their visas as EMGS had the database to track their movement. About 83,000 international students are enrolled in public universities and IPTS throughout the country
