MALUCHI UTSHAB: Maluchi an umbrella name of ARUA Union under Shivalaya Upazilla in Manikganj district. The area is sandwitched between the mighty Padma and Ichamati River. This place historically famous for its Grand Trunk Road which wast built during the regime of Ser Shah. The road was usedby the Postman to carry all postages from East Bengal to Calcutta. During the Liberation War the site was the sanctuary of freedom fighter. Principal Abdur Rouf Khan and His Uncle Captain Abdul Halim Choudhury organized Sector two and lead the liberation war in this area. The site is also famous for its date juice (Hazari Gur) and is one of the invention place of traditional hand-made sugar. The site is replicable model of Community-based Floodplain/wetlands management MOEF/UNDP/ IUCN/NACOM which resulted in conservation of hundreds of homestead and wetlands fauna and flora. The village groves supports a wide array of wildlife includes Colorful birds, lizards, small mammals. A tree species Salix tetrasperma, Indian Willow, locally known as Bias/Panibaj which is a threatened plant is rehabilitated here by planting in the canals and ponds. Bangladeshs first Nature Folk Culture Group is also established here. In the river nearby, fish and dolphin sanctuary, all shorts of hunting and shooting was banned with support from local community. The culture is very colorful with the Ghatu, Jari, Sari , Kirton and Vatiyaly performances. The Jatra Plala troops is also historically rooted here. Famous Hilsha and Pungus/Air breeding is at the door of Maluchi. During winter months the charlands becomes the chorus ground of thousands of migratory birds All most all tv channels shoot their nature and wildlife documentary here.
