MAN, 25, INJURED AS UTE HITS POLE A 25-year-old man suffered multiple injuries after losing control of his utility and slamming into a power pole in wet conditions on Sydney’s north-western outskirts this afternoon. The CareFlight rapid response trauma team were called to the accident scene on Old Northern Road, Maroota, at 4.54 pm and landed in an adjacent paddock 13 minutes later. The injured man, who was the sole occupant, had managed to extract himself from the mangled vehicle through a window. He was treated at the scene by the CareFlight medical team for multiple cuts and abrasions as well as a serious hand and suspected chest injuries. The CareFlight team then rode with him in a NSW Ambulance vehicle to continue treatment on the way to Westmead Hospital. A crew from Maroota Rural Fire Service and NSW Police Highway Patrol also responded to the incident. Photos: The mangled utility.
