MANILA — Terrence Romeo was classified by FIBA as the number one player from the ‘rest of the world’ pool and will bring his Manila West teammates Nino Canaleta, Rey Guevarra, and Aldrech Ramos to the FIBA 3×3 All-Stars on December 12 in Doha. The international basketball body named the GlobalPort scorer as the number one player outside of Europe, Americas, and Qatar, and therefore earned his team a slot in the All-Star exhibition next month at the Katara Beach. FIBA also named Romanian Catalin Vlaicu of Team Bucharest as the number one player in Europe, as well as Canadian Willie Murdaugh of Team Saskatoon as the number one player in the Americas. Both players will also take their teams to the All-Star meet. FIBA based its selections on the individual 3×3 world rankings, picking the number one ranked players from Europe, Americas, host country Qatar, and the rest of the world for the four coveted spots. Team Manila West will also be joined by Team Qatar, led by Yaseen Musa, and 3×3 World Tour winner Novi Sad of Serbia, captained by world number one Dusan Bulut. Martynas Sajus, the world’s best U-18 player, will also bring Team Lithuania to the All-Star meet as a guest team. Romeo, who is 64th in the world 3×3 rankings, and Team Manila West finished in the quarterfinals of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Finals Tokyo Masters last October 11 and 12, bowing out of the tourney after losing to Team Kranj of Slovenia.
