MARCH MISSION: 31 Days of Strategies to Win the Battlefield of the Mind and Defeat the Enemy at his own game! Day 29-Isolation only intensifies the Battle! There is absolutely nothing wrong with spending time alone, enjoying our own company and/or some quiet time with the Lord! However, the desire to be alone in order to stay away from people, may be a little extreme. On the opposite end, a desire to always want to be around people, due to the fear of being alone can be considered as extreme also. Balance is the key to life. A scheme of the enemy is to try to get us alone into a consistent mode of isolation. I liken it to a bully/coward who may operate alone or in a group. They will attempt to corner and get their victim alone in order to antagonize them when no one is watching. Or perhaps their strategy is to rally a group of their so-called friends to join in the hostility and antagonism against their prey. The plan is always to isolate a person in order to intimidate and torture. The enemy is no different. And when he gets a person alone, the battlefield of the mind becomes a barrage of insults, threats, self-sabotaging, and self-defeating thoughts that play over and over again until hopefulness decreases as despair and depression increases. He enjoys seeing us suffer with no purpose or hope in sight! God made us to be social and interactive human beings. It does not have to be ALL the time but a large part of our existence is interacting and relating to people. Even introverts enjoy and need connection. It may not be over the top, but its welcomed at times. During my internship for my studies in Counseling, my internship supervisor gave me a Pleasant Activities List to share with clients who needed assistance in changing their perspective if they were feeling hopeless or down. There were quite a few items on the list that recommended interactions with others. Its proven that being around others who often have an upbeat, positive attitude and good sense of humor, helps to lift a persons mood when they are down. Satan is not interested in us being connected so that we experience joy, happiness, hopefulness or destined purpose; his modus operandi is to lead us into despair, depression and destruction. Im reminded of a scripture where Jesus says to Peter (whose name was Simon before the Lord changed it), Simon, Simon, how Satan has pursued you, that he might make you a part of his harvest. But I (Jesus) have prayed for you. I have prayed that your faith will hold firm and that you will recover from your failure and become a source of strength for your brothers here. Luke 22:31-32 (The Voice) Gods word encourages and admonishes us to, Therefore, encourage each other and strengthen one another as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Elsewhere, it also says We should not stop gather together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other ever more as we see the day of the Lord coming. Hebrew 10:25 (Gods Word Translation) We must be very vigilant and careful to not allow the enemy to trick us into believing that isolation is the best solution. Its not! It only intensifies the battlefield of the mind. Get connected and stay connected, first to the VINE (God) and to the branches (others).
