I know many of you have been waiting on the edge of your seat for this event. It should be an evening of fun for all with exciting competitive bidding and lots of great treasures to be had! We have many nice donations tucked away for the auction including a handsome polished 12” x 6” slab of petrified wood with display stand and a handheld 16x illuminated LED Microscope both donated by Steve Wolfe of Tom Wolfe Minerals. A special portion of the auction will include Scott Belkin’s collection. Scott was a member of the Culver City Rock and Mineral Club who passed away last year. Proceeds from the collection will be donated to charity as wished by Scott’s mother. Of course we do need your help in order for the event to be successful. Please volunteer to help during the night of the auction with set up, tallying bid sheets or clean up. It is not too late to donate! We request each member donate three to six items. Mineral specimens, slabs, cabochons, tools, jewelry findings, finished jewelry, related books or magazines are all welcome. Items may be brought to the club shop prior to the February meeting, please clearly mark them for the auction. For specimens, slabs and such also include a note of what the item is, for example tourmaline crystal from Oceanview Mine. Items brought early the night of the auction will be incorporated time permitting, or will be reserved for our club summer picnic auction. To volunteer or coordinate donation drop off please contact me at charlene(at)gossamerbijou or Ellen Moe at hmcx2(at)aol Looking forward to another lively auction!
