MASS SHOOTINGS ARE INCREASING, according to an FBI study that analyzed active-shooter incidents from 2000 to 2013. Data show there were an average of 6.4 active-shooter incidents a year between 2000 and 2006, while the average climbed to 16.4 incidents a year between 2006 and 2013. Most often, these incidents ended before police were able to arrive. We cannot continue to ignore this growing threat to our children and our communities. As an organization, we remain committed to addressing the root causes of mass violence and preventing individuals from resorting to such horrific acts. We hope youll join us. -- Sandy Hook Promise
