***MATCH REPORT*** So on a cold, windy but sunny morning the team ventured to Chichester, the venue the Downs golf course at Goodwood. Spirits were high after last weeks result and the guys were keen to capitalise on it whilst establishing a lead at the top of the table. The morning didnt start well as the team were warming up on the range of the Parks course as advised by a member of staff when we phoned yesterday this was the course we were playing. Ed and Nick came running to the range to inform us that we were infact playing the Downs, a five minute drive away at 9.50, first tee was 10, we thought it odd we hadnt seen the opposition! After the vice captain of the opposition was nearly told where he could stick his suggestion of claiming the game due to us arriving at 10.02 before he swiftly corrected himself saying but as you were given false information well play the game, the team gathered on the first tee to play against unchartered opponents and a new team Chichester Uni. The results were as follows: Alex S - won 7&6 Nick - won 1up Prateek - won 3&2 Ed - won 4&3 Juan - lost 2&1 Callum - won 2&1 We won 5-1! Alex led the way getting the team off to a good start and securing the first point early on after not facing much of a test being 2 over through 12 to win comfortably. Nick played Chichesters best player off of 1, having a closely fought match - never being behind - that included eagles, birdies and not many bogeys, coming through to win at the death. Prateek and Ed the star players of last week struggled a bit this week, Ed being 2 down through 6 and Prateek having a putt not to go 3 down. Solid golf from them both from the sixth saw a change around in fortunes, Ed eventually cruising to the finish line and Prateek getting the job done (particularly pleasing as this was the vice captain!). Juan struggled off the tee and on the greens, not a good combination, however valiantly fought back from 4 down with 5 to go to be 1 with 2, but a good par from his opponent on the 17th saw Juan defeated but not for lack of effort! Callum had a close match, the lead going one way to the other, never being more than one hole in it until two solid pars on 16 and 17 was too much for his opponent, seeing Callum pick up a point on his debut. Well done lads, well give you a week off now for your efforts, make sure as many of you play in the Order of Merit next Wednesday as possible and see you at Social! Vamos!
