MAYON VOLCANO BULLETIN 26 September 2014 8:00 A.M. Mayon Volcano’s (13.2500°N, 123.6833°E) seismic network recorded nine (9) volcanic earthquakes and six (6) rockfall events during the past 24-hour observation period. Weak to moderate emission of white steam plumes drifting southwest was observed. Crater glow was not observed last night. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) flux was measured at an average of 606 tonnes/day on 24 September 2014, lower than the 1048 tonnes/day recorded on 22 September 2014. Ground deformation data showed no significant change from August 2014 based on the 21-23 September 2014 precise leveling survey although the edifice remains inflated compared to baseline measurements. Tilt data also indicate continuous inflation at the base of the edifice since August 2014. All the above data indicate that the volcano is still in a state of unrest due to the movement of potentially eruptible magma.
