MBABANE – Three local tracks per international track were charted last Friday on the weekly SBIS Top 20 Show as locals continued to dominate. Of the 15 local tracks played, nine were in the top half of the chart. These included ‘Move aside’ performed by the venerated L.I.T. ensemble which comprise Qibho Intalektual, Crax, Psycholution and DJ Mos Feb. Featured on ‘Move aside’ was Soldier Within, and it peaked at number nine on its third week of chartlisting. Converted Christian rapper, Switch, had his song ‘Awesome God’ sitting at position eight. He collaborated with American rapper Ric Flo on the song. It is found on Switch’s debut album ‘The Journey Begins’. Meanwhile, former number one track ‘Number one’ by Tiyas, fell five places down from number two last week to seven. It was released as one of the two promotional singles, alongside ‘Stubborn love’, for his upcoming studio album. Tiyas’ stable-mate, MP, had his new single ‘What’s the meaning’ sitting pretty at six, climbing up one from seven last week. The song is taken from the Swazi Rhythm Volume 1 compilation album. Both Tiyas and MP are members of The Clan, a music stable that also has Izzie, among other artists. The top five was essentially made up of the hottest bangers of the moment. LCB’s remake of his runaway single ‘Siyabashukumisa’ seemed more successful than the original as it reached the top 5 in the shortest possible time. Titled ‘Siyabashukumisa Part II’, the track climbed the charts from 10 last week to five. It featured MP, former Blaque Creationz artist Diba Diba and former Mr Swaziland Okwakhe Dlamini, otherwise known in hip hop circles as Silo Phame. The song was produced by Subjamz. At number four was new Kasi-rap maestro, Mijo, with his first ever top five hit, ‘Ungasa jampisi’. The song is Mijo’s second chart appearance as a solo artist having caused some serious stir last year with ‘Grwend’; a collaboration with Qibho Intalektual. ‘Ungasa jampisi’ was produced at Claiming Ground records, and the beat was put together by Arzi. Meanwhile, sensational rapper, Mr Kangaroo, maintained the number three spot for three weeks in a row with his controversial track, ‘Nitaskuma’. A Mfabantfu anthem, ‘Kasi lami’, performed by the premier Kasi-rapper, Kena, peaked at number two, climbing up two places from four the previous week. The song became Kena’s fourth successful track on the charts after his previous hits like ‘Dlala’, a collaboration with M-Forteen, ‘Tjovo’, and ‘Sweet memories’, a collaboration with Nozipho. Mfabantfu shall come alive this coming Saturday when the rapper shoots the video for ‘Kasi lami’. Peaking at number one again was arguably Swaziland’s song of the moment ‘Friendship Zone’ by Vanlz. Reported as a double record breaker last week, ‘Friendship Zone’ maintained the top spot for two weeks in a row. The song once topped the charts for three consecutive weeks last December. It has been in the charts for a record 29 weeks now. It can be found in Vanlz’ debut album ‘Earthlings’. The Chart Show airs on Fridays at 8pm on SBIS’ English Channel. Source: Times of Swaziland
