MEDIA ADVISORY Event to thank members of the Community Coalition for Food in Schools Hone Harawira, MANA Leader and MP for Te Tai Tokerau Wednesday 5 March 2014 This morning MANA Leader and Te Tai Tokerau MP, Hone Harawira, is hosting a morning tea in Parliament to thank the member organisations of the Community Coalition for Food in Schools. The Coalition has fronted a highly successful campaign promoting the need for Mr Harawira’s Feed the Kids Bill to be supported at first reading and sent to a select committee for further consideration and public debate. Mr Harawira’s Feed the Kids Bill is expected to come up for first reading next Wednesday 12 March. Speakers will include: · NZEI member and Natone Park School Principal, Kiri Smith; · PPTA President, Angela Roberts; · Unicef New Zealand Advocacy Manager, Deborah Morris-Travers, and · Caritas Aotearoa NZ Research and Advocacy Manager, Lisa Beech (today is Ash Wednesday, a religious day of fasting connecting people with the suffering of poverty and mobilising them to support those in need).
